Lifesaving Instructor CourseLifesaving Instructors are certified to teach the awards of the Canadian Lifesaving Program with the exception of the National Lifeguard Service, Aquatic Emergency Care and Boat Rescue awards. Lifesaving Instructors evaluate Swim Patrol and Bronze Star awards, as well as specified items in Bronze Medallion, Bronze Cross, Senior Resuscitation and Distinction.
Prerequisites:
The Advanced Instructor Course provides additional training for instructors who wish to teach the more advanced awards of the Lifesaving Program - (NLS, AEC, Leadership Courses).

After successful completion of the National Lifeguard Service Instructor course, candidates are certified to teach the National Lifeguard Service award. The National Lifeguard Service Instructor Course is designed to provide candidates with the knowledge and resources necessary to organize, plan, and manage a National Lifeguard Service course. Candidates will explore National Lifeguard Service evaluation items, criteria, performance standards, and the National Lifeguard Service Instructor's role and responsibility in evaluating candidates. NLS Instructors are only certified to teach one option during the National Lifeguard Service course. Candidates may apprentice to other options with certified Instructors, and must be current in all options they wish to teach.
Prerequisites:
After successful completion of the Aquatic Emergency Care Instructor course, candidates are certified to teach and evaluate the Aquatic Emergency Care award. The Aquatic Emergency Care Instructor course is designed to provide candidates with the knowledge and resources necessary to organize, plan, and manage an Aquatic Emergency Care course. Candidates will explore Aquatic Emergency Care evaluation items, criteria, performance standards, and the AEC Instructor's role and responsibility in evaluating AEC candidates.
Prerequisites:
The Examination Standards Clinic (ESC) focuses on the evaluation of the Bronze Medallion, Bronze Cross, Senior Resusctiation and Distinction awards. The ESC can be run as a stand-alone clinic or attached to other leadership courses. Successful completion of this clinic does not guarantee Branch appointment as an Examiner (see below).

The Instructor Trainer clinic is designed to prepare participants to successfully apprentice as an Instructor Trainer on the leadership course(s) of their choice (Lifesaving, Advanced, NLS, or AEC Instructor, or Examination Standards Clinic). With apprenticeship experience and the positive recommendation of an Instructor Trainer, the Branch may appoint the individual as an Instructor Trainer.
